Work Clothes

is an open exchange of used clothing where value is attributed to an item’s physical depreciation along with the memories expressed by their deterioration.

Can Be

  • Worked in for a considerable amount of time

long enough to accumulate persisting memories that leave their marks in                strange and exciting ways.

  • Used clothes never worn by a contributor. Clothing purchased from a Salvation Army would be of special interest to Third Hand shoppers who enjoy rummaging through thrift stores for unique threads but have little time to do so. The same idea applies to used clothes bought online or found in the basement of your Grandma's house.

  • Third Hand Items, or used clothes that have been intentionally and creatively altered by the contributor. An old work shirt stenciled with bleach and spray paint would be considered a Third Hand Item. Holey pants patched in kaleidoscopic patterns would as well.
